Route Napoléon - Le Cannet Tourisme

Le Cannet, located on the magnificent Côte d’Azur, just above Cannes and 2 km from the beaches, is proud to be part of the famous Route Napoléon. This emblematic road retraces the route taken by Napoleon Bonaparte and his troops on their return journey from the island of Elba to Paris. In fact, 2 March 1815 is a key date in the history of Le Cannet and the Route Napoléon. It was on this date that the Emperor and his men passed through the town of Le Cannet on their way to Grasse.

When you visit Le Cannet, be sure to cross the Boulevard Paul Doumer and the Avenue Franklin Roosevelt, which were used by Napoleon and his troops. You’ll notice on the map that these roads are known as the ‘Route Napoléon’. At the junction of Avenue Franklin Roosevelt and Rue Cité Jardins, you can admire a white marble statue commemorating Napoleon’s historic visit to Le Cannet. It depicts Napoleon from behind.

Le Cannet is an ideal base for exploring the Route Napoléon and the surrounding area. Take advantage of your stay to visit the other stages of this historic route, such as Grasse, Mougins, Golfe-Juan… Each stage offers a wealth of cultural and historical discoveries, as well as breathtaking scenery.

Each year in March, don’t miss the not-to-be-missed event near us in Golfe-Juan! An event entirely dedicated to the Route Napoléon, during which our Tourist Office proudly represents our destination Le Cannet and its history with the Route Napoléon.
