Bonnard – The Collections. The time for mimosa has arrived.

Special loan from the MNAM – Centre Pompidou
This new exhibition at the Bonnard Museum offers a fresh perspective on the permanent collections thanks to a unique display, enriched by the arrival of paintings that have never before been exhibited to the public.

These works, from private collections, are on loan for several years, highlighting the collectors’ trust and ongoing support for the institution.

The highlight of the exhibition is the exceptional presentation of Pierre Bonnard’s iconic work L’Atelier au Mimosa, created between 1939 and 1945, on loan for 14 months from the Centre Pompidou. This masterful canvas embodies the quintessence of Bonnard’s painting at the end of his life: an intimate space bathed in light, where the interior of his studio in Le Cannet subtly interacts with the garden overflowing with mimosas. Through a bold composition, Bonnard plays with planes, reflections and textures in an almost abstract approach to reality.

The work symbolically returns to the very town where it was painted, a few steps from the artist’s home and studio. This exceptional loan offers a unique opportunity to appreciate the meditative and luminous dimension of Bonnard’s universe.
